Community Outreach and Initiatives

Friends of the Uffizi Gallery, Gordon and Laney Lewis serve on the Advisory Board of this wonderful organization that is committed to raising funds to restore works of art in the museum.

The Neptune Fountain, Boboli Gardens is The Friends of the Uffizi latest community restoration project.  Each year over one million visitors have admired this sculpture by Stoldo Lorenzi of Neptune stopped in action of thrusting his trident, created in 1565 for Cosimo I de’ Medici.    The fountain is in the Basin of Neptune.  As you can see the fountain is in desperate need of restoration, and the Friends are in the midst of an active drive to raise the funds to have the sculpture brought back to a stable and aesthetically pleasing state.
